XFree86 4.2.0 was released on 18 January 2002, and version 4.2.1 , which was a bugfix update, was released on 3 September 2002.
XFree86 4.2.0 is available as source tarballs, source patches, and binaries from our ftp site. XFree86 4.2.1 is available as source patches and binary updates from our ftp site. XFree86 4.2.0 must be installed before installing the 4.2.1 binary updates.

The 4.2.1 errata page will be updated with information about fixes and corrections for problems found after 4.2.1 was released.
The 4.2.0 source code can also be obtained directly from our public CVS server. The tag for this release is xf-4_2_0 while the tag for the 4.2.1 update release is xf-4_2_1.
Post-release fixes may be found on the branch called xf-4_2-branch.
